Education & Quality Programme

Education is at the heart of SSVIR. Techniques, devices and indications in interventional radiology evolve quickly, and the society supports its members at every stage: specialist training, subspecialisation and lifelong continuing education.

Continuing education

Continuing education in Switzerland follows the rules of the Swiss Institute for Medical Education (SIWF/ISFM), which require 50 credits of structured continuing education and 30 credits of self-study per year to obtain the continuing education diploma, valid for three years. SSVIR organises and accredits courses in interventional radiology; organisers can apply for SSVIR credits for their course.

Subspecialty training

SSVIR recognises the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) as the subspecialty qualification in interventional radiology in Switzerland, based on the CIRSE curriculum and syllabus.

Meetings and online learning

Each year SSVIR contributes a dedicated programme to the Swiss Congress of Radiology. Members also have access to the online mediacenter, with recorded lectures, quizzes and certificates of attendance.
